Good people make good leaders and corrupt people make bad leaders.
Anybody can be a leader because people need to follow someone and will inevitably find what they are looking for, and another leader is born.
What is a good leader then?
Good people have the long-term sustainability of healthy social and economic systems at heart. They do not leave a stone unturned towards the creation of environments in which children and adults alike can thrive. These people make good leaders. These happen in the form of thousands of acts on a day-to-day basis. Some acts are large but many are small acts towards this aim.
The opposite is also true about corrupt people.
Maybe leadership development should not so much be about learning about leadership but about being a good person.
In short when faced with leadership conundrums the question may simply be, what would a good person do?
Be an evolved human being first!
